Summary of project results

The main goal of the project: “Increase of the Energy Efficiency in municipal buildings, throughout introduction of local heating systems, using renewable energy sources" had been achieved by implementation of project activities. In 9 municipal buildings - schools and kindergartens (5 sites), energy efficient heating systems were introduced for provision of heat through utilization of renewable energy sources. The quality of life of pupils/ children in childcare facilities that use the buildings on a daily basis is increasing, minimizing the risk to human health and the environment. In addition with Supplementary Agreement energy-efficient systems for providing heating by using renewable energy sources have been introduced in 3 municipal buildings - Kindergarten №89 'Sharena Daga' 'Colorful Rainbow', Vrazhdebna and the Stray Dog Shelter (2 sites). The final results of the project are reflected in a number of benefits for the target groups of the project and Sofia Municipality in particular. A positive environmental effect has been achieved by replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy. Sofia Municipality ensures the optimal use of its resources through the utilization of biomass; As a result reduction of 452,10 CO2 t/year is achieved.
