Description

The aim of the project proposal is to increase the energy efficiency of the hospital "MHAT Pomorie" and to reduce the greenhouse gases and air pollution by replacing the existing heating system in the hospital with a more effective one. The implementation of this project will increase the energy efficiency of the hospital "Pomorie", which will have a positive impact on the environment in the region as a result of the reduced air pollution. The reconstruction of the internal building installations will lead to quality improvement of the hospital services and the competitiveness of the hospital in Pomorie will be significantly increased. Due to the better conditions it will become a preferred institution for health treatment and birth activity among the patients in the whole municipality. So far most of the citizens of the municipality prefer to be hospitalized in larger health institutions in the district city Burgas, mainly because of the poor conditions in the local hospital. This project is crucial not only for creating a sustainable improvement of the social services in the municipality of Pomorie, but for all other public sectors in the region.

Summary of project results

The main goal of the project “Implementing measures to increase the energy efficiency of MHAT - Pomorie" had been achieved. The aim of the project proposal is to increase energy efficiency in Pomorie Hospital and to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollutants by replacing and reconstructing the indoor heating system in the hospital. This objective is fully implemented in full compliance with the main objective of the BG04 Program "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources" and contributes to the overall objectives of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009-2014 between the Republic of Bulgaria and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The implementation of all planned activities has contributed to the increase of the energy efficiency of Pomorie Hospital and its energy costs have been significantly reduced. The implementation of the project helped to improve social services throughout the community and increase its revenue. The project provides sustainable environmental, economic and social conditions. The successful realization has contributed to the improvement of the conditions and quality of the services offered, as well as to the sustainable development of the hospital activity in Pomorie Municipality.
