Description
The purpose of the Project is to improve the education and health care conditions of mentally handicapped children at the Dauguli special elementary boarding school, with the overall objective of improving the quality of life and the society integration opportuntities of children with special needs in Valmiera district in Latvia. Reference is made to the application, dated 5 March 2007 and to correspondence with the Focal Point dated 26 October 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - purchase of senso-motoric and education materials for mentally disabled children; - purchase of equipment for physiotherapy and hippotherapy procedures; - reconstruction works at the school dormitory; - exchange of know-how with the Rud Upper Secondary School in Norway and organisation of study visits; - management and promotion. The Project Promoter is the Diklu pagasta padome (Dikli Local Municipality). The Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Dauguli special school, the Rud Secondary School in Norway, the “Saulite’ NGO in Valmiera and the Valmiera District Municipality. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible project costs.
