Description

The purpose of the Project is to create an enabling environment including social, educational and medical services provided on a regular basis for children with special needs in Jelgava, with the overall objective to facilitate the integration of children with special needs into society in Latvia . Reference is made to the application, dated 2 March 2007 and to correspondence with the Focal Point dated 12 September and 24 October 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - development of a Multidimensional Support Centre model for children with special needs; - organisation of two pilot camps for 40 children; - staff training; - renovation of the two wings of the building for the Multidimensional Support Centre, including modernisation/installation of infrastructure and heating; - purchase of equipment for the provision of services for children with special needs; - preparation and presentation of a drama performance involving disabled and non-disabled children; - production and presentation of a film on children with special needs; - production of 6 publications for the mass media; - management and promotion. The Project Promoter is the Jelgava City Council. The Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Children Centre of Social Care in Jelgava, the Jelgavas Children and Youth Centre - 'Junda', and the Sports and Rehabilitation Club Hope - 'Ceriba'. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible project costs.
