  • How Portugal just kicked off 48 projects through the Active Citizens Fund


    Over the next three years, no less than 48 projects are set to receive up to €3,5M through the Portuguese Active Citizens Fund. The funding will go to projects focusing on civic participation and human rights awareness, as well as projects dealing with the empowerment of vulnerable groups, such as youth at risk, young people with disabilities, children living with cancer, victims of domestic violence, migrants and refugees.

  • Fund for Regional Cooperation: Update


    The call for proposals under the Fund for Regional Cooperation resulted in more than 700 applications involving thousands of entities all over Europe. The indicated timeline with feedback on the selection has therefore been delayed. 

  • 5 projects taking climate change fight to a new level


    2018 is on pace to become the 4th hottest year…in history! That is not a record anyone would want to defend. Putting an end to climate change and making sure the next generations are safe is key to our future. Through the EEA and Norway Grants, hundreds of inspiring projects have seen the light over the past few years.

    Actually, most of us do  - and really should! Rising sea levels, heat waves, forest fires, droughts, floods, overall rising temperatures… the picture isn't pretty. But hopefully, a lot can be done about it. This week, the largest, loudest and most important climate gathering held since Paris is taking place in Poland. It's called COP24, and it's about finding solutions to one of our times most pressing challenges: our future.

  • Shhh! Please be quiet, democracy is sleeping...


    … And it's time to wake it up! This week we are at the EU Commission's Annual Colloquium on Fundamental Rights, together with EEA and Norway Grants chairman Niels Engelschiøn, looking at why civil society is crucial in building a vibrant democracy - and the key role public authorities play, all across Europe, in making it a reality. Democracy as we know it clearly needs to be awaken - and what better way than a good old classic democratic debate to bring it (back) to life?

  • Active Citizens Fund: Fund Operator Selected in Poland


    The donor countries of the EEA Grants, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, have selected Stefan Batory Foundation, in consortium with Unit for Social Innovation and Research “Shipyard” and the Academy of Civic Organizations Foundation, as Fund Operator for the Active Citizens Fund – National in Poland.
