Description

In general, interlocked system with people, who could contribute to eliminate domestic violence, is not fully developed. It is immensely important to involve not only the whole family but also the neighbours and community. Women don´t often understand the risk of domestic violence and are pushed over the border of normal co-existence, thus becoming victims of psychological, physical and economical cruelty. By creation of a new counselling centre, which will be used for capturing signs of early problems that arise mainly after giving birth and during early childhood, we expect a huge progress in the perception of working centres. Women - mothers will have much better chance to make a contact directly in this facility, that is part of an organization that joins 65 mother/family centres. Another goal will include to start an information campaign in mother centres, a creation of an educational video record and its propagation on a website, training of leading workers in mother centres. During this media coverage, a conference of specialists in domestic violence, public and media will be held. The partnership with accredited organizations will secure professional supervision of the project.

Summary of project results

The statistics shows that every fith woman is abused. It concernes also children and here is taken into account also a child who has encountered domestic violence. A interlock system is missing in our society. A point of reference for women who are suffering from domestic violence is missing. There is a lack of people who could help to eliminate a domestic violence. Advisory centre staff Women for women were trained in basic scensitization training, also in other trainings and modules such as social-psychological training, supervision and additional modules to identify problems directly. Two main project outcomes were fulfilled namely an establisment of an advisory centre and employment of its staff. Thanks to it we can secure a sustainability of the project and a change which has happened within the Union of mother centres. Next we were able to carry out trainings of mother centre leaders so they are able to react when abused women who don´t want to visit a specialist just yet, but they need to vent their problem. We have trained many leaders and on top o fit another 100 women who are working in 56 mother centres in Slovakia. It is very important to able to provide basic information so abused women know helping organizations in their close neighbourghood. We have opened an advisory centre. We constantly provide a phone advice service, consult specific cases. To evaluate and talk about results, then the first indicator is the number of our clients. We have planned to work with 125 clients a year. During 2016-2017 we have worked with 116 clients until 31st December 2016 and with 31 clients until 30th April 2017. Almost all of them used to or still visit mother centre, some heard about us through media. First of all these women learned to look for help, what to ask from each individual organizations and how to confront administrative authorities. All women found a safety and opportunity to talk about their problem. We have processed a safety plans to enable them to handle their domestic violence situation without endanger themselves of their children. We looked for a strategy how to solve a complex of problems, which are caused by domestic violence – looking for an accomodation, applying for various benefits.
