Description

'OZ Prima' operates within Harm Reduction approach with female drug users and streetworkers in a form of social work directly in terrain. Based on the project of social assistance and gender sensitive research BordernetWor with WED, we have started to face problems of our clients, as many of them being mothers, pregnant women and victims of various forms of the gender based violence. The objective of the project is an establishment of gender sensitive social assistance and services for female clients. The project is directed to improvement and reinstatement. Such approach will be innovative in Slovakia. The outcome of this project represent three basic items: namely development of new services, education of practical team experts, dissemination of gained know-how, via conference. The target groups are mothers and pregnant drug users and female street workers. Establishment of the services is based on a collaboration between 'OZ Prima' and 'LDI CRVZ Cesta'.'OZ Prima' plays a role of a primary contact to motivate the clients and 'LDI CRVZ Cesta' takes over a follow-up care. Partners will gain skills via education and training of professional teams in defined areas in order to design and implement the innovative methodology of services to be used in praxis.

Summary of project results

This project was needed, because there were not services of low threshold organizations together with services of counseling centre on one place. Now this service is fully integrated on our outreach shifts and clients can get more services and informations like before. They can be contacted by counsellors directly on street, and if they are interested, they can continue with solving their problematic situation more safely and more discreet in couselling centre. The project brought social asistents and outreach social counsellors directly to streets and also to contact centre of OZ Prima. Pilot services of help and support to victims of gender based violence in cooperation with our partner LDI were created. The system of work which was used before was changed and it is highly effective. The clients are very satisfied with the new system of "double service" in streets. Thanksfully to this project, we have also fully integrated gender sensitive approach in our services. We had several workshops with focus on gender sensitive approach and services. Now we are much more effective in effort and help to women, which are victims of gender based violence and this is the biggest output of this project, because women which are providing sex business and have drug dependancy, mainly dont want to use services, which are not easy reachable. So we brought these services directly to them - to the streets.
