Description

The project will fill in the gap of currently non-existent specialised support services for women and their children in Poprad. This project’s objective is to contribute to the reduction of gender based violence against women in Slovakia via provision of specialised support services to women experiencing intimate partner violence. The project outcome is the establishment of new support services tailored specifically for women experiencing intimate partner violence and their children in the city of Poprad and the Presov Self-governing Region. The project’s main output will be the newly established counselling centre and provision of specialised support services to women. Women experiencing gender based intimate partner violence, including women from socially excluded communities and women with multiple vulnerabilities, and their children will benefit from the project. No donor partner is involved in the project.

Summary of project results

The project was needed to establish a safe place for women.The implementation of the project has ensured the coverage of services for women experiencing violence that they lacked at that time.The closest place to help was for women more than 100 km away.Thanks to the project, consulting center has been created to provide free,specialized social,legal and psychological counseling to women.There has been increased awareness of the issue of violence against women in the region but also the provision of specialized and quality specialized assistance that is accredited. We addressed the media that helped and still help spread the idea of ​​zero tolerance of violence in society.Through the conferences, we addressed a broad professional and lay public and attracted the attention of the institutions and organizations that proposed cooperation.We have launched a working group in multiinstitutional cooperation with state and nonstate institutions to provide comprehensive assistance and support to women experiencing violence and their children.Through the project, we have achieved the legitimacy of other existing state and nonstate institutions and organizations in the environment and have created a multiinstitutional support network for women experiencing violence from their intimate partner and their children. We have carried out promotional activities, including the implementation of campaigns,writing articles,promoting a consultancy center in Poprad and its surroundings.We spread information about the possibilities of using leaflets, posters and other promotional materials.We have held conferences that have informed a broad professional and general public about the start of the project implementation with the goals set,as well as its termination and achievement of the desired goals.The project initiated networking and multiinstitutional cooperation at the local level to provide comprehensive assistance to women and their children in the process of partner violence.We have had many education for secondary school pupils,state and nonstate institutions and local Roma communities.Planned number of counseling/year:250 Realized number of consulting cases/year:191 Advisory center:1 Created jobs:5 Number of counseling forms:3 Number of types of advice:3 Application for accreditation:1 Accredited training for employees:2 Evaluation meetings:3 Consultative consultations:6 Notices in Media:7 Conference:2 Website:1 Website visits:3253 Number of participants at conferences:97
