Description

-The demand for good quality engineers, is practically high in every country in the world, it is not any different in Slovakia. In electrical engineering is a shortage of skilled engineers and unemployment among professional machine builders (engineers) is lower than in almost any other profession. Eastern Slovakia is well-known for its situation on labour market and need of employment is emergent for the residents living here. In our project we focus on creating accredited educational programs in a joint partnership with Ukraine. -The objective of this project is to enhance the quality and innovate the content  of continuing education for employees in the engineering industry in accordance  with the requirements of the labor market and the needs of the knowledge society through the development and implementation of new educational programs focusing on engineering to realize the potential Slovakia - Ukraine partnership. -Creating of initiative aimed at better cooperation of employment services, education institutions, employers and other. New partners (institution) involved in the CBC partnerships and the creation of more people attending the events or activities organized by project promoters. -Workshops that will involve working groups composed of project partners and experts will cover the development of training programs themselves and accredited training programs - the main result of the program will include educational programs - 5 modules that will be offered to the labor offices in Slovakia and Ukraine to train selected jobseekers. -The main target group are unemployed/disadvantaged on both sides of the border, young people and students. -Knowing each other will allow us to penetrate into the deeper knowledge of the needs and particularities of other cultures. Without partner on the Ukrainian side project would be a theory without tangible results

Summary of project results

The demand for good quality engineers is high in every country. Startup of automobile production in past years has raised the urgent need of solving problems of shortage in skilled workforce. There is an area of eastern Slovakia and Transcarpathian region in Ukraine, where the is an urgent need for trained and skilled workforce. Labor offices have a significant rate of unemployment and the unemployed are calling for job opportunities. The project combined two needs: the demand for skilled employees in the engineering industry and the need for training. The aim of this project was to enhance the quality and innovate the content of continuing education for employees in the engineering industry in accordance with the requirements of the labor market and the needs of employers. Analysis of the situation on the labor market and the needs of employers in the field of human resources in the affected region was carried out as the starting point for determining the next steps and preparation of suitable training modules. Workshops were important for the exchange of information, best practices and needs of each country in creating new educational programs. Accredited training programs are the main result of the program - 5 modules on both sides of the border, were offered to the labor offices in SVK and UKR to train selected jobseekers. An important contribution of the project was to match the needs of border regions in the field of education of unemployed people and their application onthe labor market through the creation and implementation of innovative tailor-made educational programs, which were adjusted to the needs of the labor market and employers in engineering industry through the analyzes and cross-border exchange of information at workshops. Through the implementation of the project, educational programs were created on both sides of the border consisting of 5 modules. Under these programs, there were 640 jobseekers trained on both sides of the border (SVK- 574, UKR - 66), and it helped them to increase their employability in the labor market. On the SVK side, the number of trained applicants was increased by 374 compared to the planned value. This deviation was due to the fact that the education was adapted to the current requirement from the labor offices for the recruitment of job seekers in the modules in which the candidates were most interested, while it were modules with a shorter period of duration.
