Description

Development of core competencies of students and quality of teachers are two problem areas in which it is necessary to take measures to improve the upper secondary education in Slovakia. The main aim of the project is to motivate students and teachers through common activities using information and communication technologies. An important aim is also to develop common teaching materials usable in teaching at both schools, in Slovakia and Norway. Transfer of knowledge and methods between partners improves the quality of education. Activities will be implemented in both schools, especially during the normal educational process as part of the curriculum. Students will do research in groups on subtopics using different media and complete their knowledge during international mobilities. Teachers can apply a creative approach, motivate students, as well as obtain new ideas from colleagues from another country. Many outputs will be useful in the further education process. Students will obtain a competitive advantage in the labour market with a better possibility to compete in foreign or multinational companies.

Summary of project results

The aim of schools is to prepare young people for both work at home and abroad, but also to provide as good conditions and benefits at labour market as possible. The main purpose and theme of the project were common activities using in the greater extent information and communication technologies. The project supported experiential learning and communication with peers in the process of common education, with little speaking barriers. Teachers prepared 3 new teaching aids: presentations about the attractions in Slovakia, presentations about the attractions in Norway and trilingual dictionary of the terms concerning tourism with tourist information from partnership regions. The teaching materials are mainly in English language and can be used by the teachers of geography, history, tourism and English language. Students got to know each other and made new friends. They improved their language and communication skills, as well as the ICT skills. The project enabled the students to develop their qualities such as self-action, responsibility, frankness and creativity. Participants are appropriate multipliers of the need to respect and understand other cultures and to tolerate each other. Both partner schools will be able to use the results of the project in the educational process. The results of the experience exchange acquired during mobilities (at the level of both managements and particular fields of education) will be applied to the educational program of both schools.

Summary of bilateral results

The realisation of the project enabled the formation of a new partnership for both schools. The students and teachers of both schools worked in common teams on the creation of new teaching materials that can be used by both schools in their educational process. The innovation of a new school educational program was provided. The transfer of knowledge and methods will enhance quality of education and it will enable acquisition in term of innovations. The partnership schools will arrange contacts with other foreign partners, which enables the participation in future projects and extracurricular activities. The realization of the project brought new components to education, which has a positive influence on its content and organization. Schools applied new methods in practice, which will be profitable for future work with the young, as well as better interaction between the school and local institutions and community.
