Description

The idea of the project started from the need to establish support centres and to develop specialized services for elderly victims of domestic violence in the counties of Galati, Braila, Tulcea and Vaslui, considering that there is a large number of cases reported in recent years and in these counties services for victims of domestic violence are underdeveloped, underfunded or are missing. The objective is to ensure domestic violence victims access to effective and consistent support services by creating a network of support centres at inter-regional South-East / North-East level. Thus, the project envisages the establishment and diversification of services in 3 support centres for victims of domestic violence in the municipalities of Brăila and Galați, South-East region and Vaslui, North-East region; providing support services to 200 victims of domestic violence from Galati, Braila, Tulcea and Vaslui counties, and developing a public-private partnership consortium nationwide consisting of 15 relevant stakeholders plus developing an inter-regional strategy for 5 years in order to increase the efficiency of support services to victims of domestic violence. The target group consists of 50 elderly victims of domestic violence from Galati County, 50 elderly victims of domestic violence from Braila County, 50 elderly victims of domestic violence from Tulcea County (South-East Region) and 50 elderly victims of domestic violence from Vaslui County (North-East Region).

Summary of project results

The idea of the project started from the need to establish support centres and to develop specialized services for elderly victims of domestic violence in the counties of Galati, Braila, Tulcea and Vaslui, considering that there was a large number of cases reported in recent years and in these counties specialized services for victims of domestic violence were underdeveloped, underfunded or missing. The objective of the project was to prevent and tackle gender-based violence. The objective was achieved through ensuring the necessary infrastructure and providing specialized services for the victims of domestic violence at inter-regional South-East / North-East level, as well as through facilitating the cooperation among the relevant stakeholders in the field. The outcome of the project was to ensure the victims of domestic violence access to effective and consistent support services, by creating a network of support centers in the Eastern counties of Romania. 3 support centers for victims of domestic violence in the cities of Braila, Galati and Vaslui have been set up or supported in order to provide new services. Support services were provided for a total of 373 victims of domestic violence in Galati, Braila, Tulcea and Vaslui. A public-private partnership consisting of 28 stakeholders (public institutions and NGOs with atributions in DV area) has been set up at the level of the counties targeted by the project and an inter-regional strategy on five years with the aim of granting efficient support services for victims of domestic violence has been develloped. The following outputs were delivered: - One shelter for the victims of violence in Galați supported - Two rehabilitation centres for the victims of domestic violence in Brăila and Vaslui were set up - 4 mobile teams were set up in order to ensure support services for the victims of violence in the counties of Galați, Brăila, Vaslui and Tulcea - a total of 373 elderly victims of domestic violence benefitted of specialized services, both at the level of the 3 supported centres (172 victims), as well as through the assistance of the 4 mobile teams (201 victims); - a public-private partnership consisting of 28 stakeholders (public institutions and NGOs with atributions in DV area) was established - an inter-regional strategy on five years with the aim of granting efficient support services for victims of domestic violence was developed.
