Description

The project is addressing the need for specialised services for victims of domestic violence in Olt County. Current services are inadequate and unable to sufficiently cover the needs of the growing number of victims of violence. There is an urgent need to raise awareness among victims of violence and to develop a zero tolerance attitude when it comes to domestic violence. The project is establishing an emergency centre for victims of domestic violence, as well as providing training, information, promotion, advertising and media activities. The centre will provide accommodation, support and counselling by renovating and equipping a building under the management of the General Direction of Social Assistance and Child Protection Olt. Moreover, an information campaign for victims of domestic violence will be organised, alongside training for professionals involved in fighting against domestic violence. The target group consists of victims of domestic violence in Olt County, family members confronted with domestic violence and professionals with responsibilities in preventing and combating domestic violence (12 people, victims of domestic violence; 12 family members; 13 people from the General Direction of Social Assistance and Child Protection Olt and 120 specialists in domestic violence from other institutions).

Summary of project results

Bearing in mind that the specialized services provided to the victims of domestic violence in Olt County prior to the start of this project were inadequate and insufficient and taking into consideration the growing number of cases of violence recorded, it was raised the need of this project promoted by General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Olt, in order to improve the services offered to the victims. The objectives of the project are to establish an emergency centre for victims of domestic violence, as well as preventing and combating domestic violence through training, information, promotion, advertising and media activities. To this purpose, the project included the following components:: Component 1: Setting up an Emergency Centre for the domestic violence victims to provide hosting, support and counselling by renovating and endowing a location under the management of the General Direction of Social Assistance and Child Protection Olt, in Slatina; Component 2: Organizing an informative campaign for victims of domestic violence; Component 3: Training of professionals involved in the fight against domestic violence. The objectives of the project were fully achieved. The outcome “Domestic violence reduced” was achieved through specific project outputs, described below: -An Emergency Centre for the domestic violence victims was renovated and endowed -An informative campaign was organized, through which promotional materials were distributed and 2580 persons were informed about the project and the domestic violence phenomenon -13 specialists pertaining to the Promoter were trained, out of which 6 as trainers -6 training sessions were organized, being attended by 130 specialists with attributions in the field of domestic violence belonging to the local public administration -Specialized services were provided for 29 victims and 12 family members, as well as for 3 perpetrators -A dissemination seminar concerning prevention and combating domestic violence was held, attended by 112 persons pertaining to the local public administration with attributions in the field of domestic violence.
