Description

The project is addressing the need to equip the Social Centre for the Protection of Victims of Domestic Violence, established under the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Iasi. The project will improve conditions for victims of domestic violence residing at the Social Centre, through equipping and adapting the centre in order to accommpdate the needs of the victims. The centre will also offer specialized services in order to develop personal and social autonomy among the victims, including their professional reintegration. Moreover, the project seeks to encourage local authorities to work in partnership with private entities in order to to implement programs to protect victims in line with European standards. The target group consists of a minimum of 30 adults and 60 children over the duration of the project (at least 10 victims per semester), adult victims of domestic violence and children victims (passive witnesses or victims of abuse).

Summary of project results

The idea of the project started from the need to refurbish /endow the existing Social Centre for the Protection of Victims of Domestic Violence, functioning under the subordination of the project promoter – the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Iasi and also to develop the services offered to the beneficiaries. The objective of the project was to improve the conditions provided to the victims of domestic violence, residents of the Social Centre for the Protection of the Victims of Domestic Violence Iasi. To this purpose, the project included the following components: Component 1: Endowment of the Centre, in order to be fully adapted to the victims’ needs; Component 2: Providing efficient specialized services, aiming to develop personal and social autonomy of the victims, their professional reintegration, as well as developing the capacity of local authorities to implement in partnership with private entities programs aligned to European standards to assist victims of domestic violence. The objective of the project was fully achieved. The outcome “Domestic violence reduced” was achieved through specific project outputs, described below: - the exterior and interior facilities of the Centre were refurbished /endowed - a multidisciplinary team consisting of 1 social mediator, 2 parental educators, 2 doctors, was established in order to provide specialized services to the victims hosted within the Centre, - 69 victims and 136 children benefitted of specialized services, namely medical and psychological services - 35 victims hosted at the Centre attended parenting educational courses - 12 specialists working within the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Iasi were trained as parenting advisors and delivered training for 134 people.
