Description

The project intends to enhance the international cooperation of Technical University of Cluj Napoca, tackling here the Norwegian universities. The signed agreements (areas covering different fields: engineering and engineering trades, food processing, information and communication technologies) stipulate exchanges for students and for teaching, in most of cases the number of incoming and outgoing participants being foreseen as equal. As a result of these visits, an increased number of students will study for one or two semesters in Norwegian universities or will benefit from internships in research laboratories or companies. Also the academic cooperation will improve the content of the taught curricula and will make them closer. For the institutions from Norway, the advantage will be in discovering good practice cases, finding outstanding quality to some students they may hire for further levels of study or joint research projects (example would be research in green energy, population aging issues, where there is already cooperation). The possibility of our University to offer language courses will be also an advantage, the incoming students finding more also on Romanian language and culture.

Summary of project results

This project was aimed to enhance mobility exchanges (in both ways) for students and all types of staff, with Norwegian Universities (University of Agder and Norwegian University of Science and Technology Trondheim in our case), in areas covering different engineering fields. The results of this project, (were implemented 3 outgoing student mobilities, 3 outgoing staff and one incoming staff mobilities), may be seen as a start point for further cooperation both in education and research. The main objective was partly achieved, in the sense that the students involved into exchanges were very pleased and some consider to continue. Unfortunately it was not possible to involve Norwegian students and this will remain as a major aim for the next cooperation programs. The outcome of the mobility project was the achievement of a number of bilateral exchanges and the initiation of further joint projects. No deliverables were released. For students the main benefit was the first contact with the Nordic education system, and the impact was very positive. Also they performed very well at the final examinations, having full equivalence of studies. The staff involved worked a lot for finding other possible cooperation possibilities. The main gain for the NO participants was the possibility to know about our education system, our research possibilities, skills of RO students.

Summary of bilateral results

The Romanian student studying in University of Agder, Kristiansand, was benefiting of the teaching experience and the existing practical arrangements, being very pleased. The NO staff involved in exchanges worked a lot in trying to promote our University and enhance bilateral cooperation. The selected staff for exchanges was that one involved in achieving the cooperation agreements and the project proposal, from both parts. The RO student was selected and monitored by the mentioned involved staff. The Romanian student was really ambassador for the Romanian technical education’s system. The staff from both parts had the opportunity to do visits, to find out about the resources may be shared and to present their cooperation offer. There is a firm intention (from both parts) and all are working for a wider cooperation in project proposals, in education or research, both bilateral and at European level.
