Description

The University from Alba Iulia (UAB) intends to expand cooperation with international partners in both the Erasmus+ framework and the EEA Financial Mechanism. Ensuring that our students and staff have the opportunity to study, teach and train in an education system as challenging as the Norwegian one, gives them the means to strengthen their academic and professional abilities and competences. The project is a continuation of bilateral agreements between UAB and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Trondheim and Nesna University College, which opens the door for our students and staff to study, teach or extend their professional experience in areas such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Social Sciences, Education and Teacher Training, Humanities, Civil Engineering and Earth Sciences. The current project is aimed at maintaining and increasing our cooperation, with the goal of receiving incoming students and staff from our partners, of exchanging best practices in assuring quality in higher education and research best suited for current labor market challenges. The target groups are both students and staff in subject areas of mutual interests.

Summary of project results

The University from Alba Iulia (UAB) is constantly aiming to increase the quality of teaching and research activities and, in line with its strategies, the exchange of academic staff and researchers between us and higher education institutions (HEIs) abroad. Student mobilities through EEA programmes succeeds in boosting the students’ career prospects and intercultural understanding. The project aimed to maintain and increase cooperation between UAB and the donor states by hosting incoming students and staff at donor institutions, in this case Nesna University College and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and by exchanging best practices in quality assurance and research to meet current labor market challenges. The University from Alba Iulia (UAB) successfully organized one outgoing student mobility for studies, four outgoing student placement mobilities and three staff training mobility flows (one teaching professional and two administrative members). The student mobilities were in the fields of Language and Linguistics, Engineering and Literature. The experience of studying and completing traineeships in Norway was essential to the professional development of students, who have obtained excellent results. The staff mobilities of UAB’s administrative staff at Nesna University College have led to an improvement of procedures for promoting the benefits of mobility flows. As for the staff mobility of a teaching member to Nesna University College, it had both the advantages of exchanging good practices in the field of education, and the strengthening of our partnership in the future.

Summary of bilateral results

The partnership achieved a better understanding of the Romanian education system, the shared experience of teaching, as well as an improved partnership through the outgoing mobility UAB has organized to Nesna University College. The partnership hopes to promote further cooperation not only in the field of mobility projects, but as well in the field of research and innovation, during the coming years. The partnership has insured the continuation of bilateral cooperation in the fields of Philology and Education and Exact Sciences, Computer Science, namely with Nesna University College, and together it is decided to increase the placement mobility flows for students, incoming and outgoing for, Philology, Computer Science and Education.
