Summary of project results

Although the Romanian animation film school use to be very good, with a long tradition and internationally recognized, nowadays it is underdeveloped and under promoted. Seeing how the first step was already made in 2013 by winning the animation films project contest powered by Anim’est and HBO Romania, making the short „Somebody has to save the world!...or not!” was answering the need to nationally and internationally promote the contemporary Romanian animation school. With this purpose, the resulting short has been submitted to 3 international festivals so far (and will be submitted to even more during this year): KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival, which took place between 25 – 30 October in Amsterdam; COUNTRYSIDE ANIMAFEST CYPRUS which took place between 18 – 23 July 2016 at the Lusignian Manor House garden located at the ancient town of Palaipafos, Cyprus; ANIM’EST which took place between 7 – 16 October 2016 in Bucharest, Romania This project has made possible the creation of a quality short , with big changes of being selected to as many contests and national and international festivals as possible. This is one more step to achieve the project’s objective – promoting the Romanian animation nationally and internationally. The main produce is the 6 minutes short animation film. During the project the following products were also delivered character concepts resulting in the Character sheets, digitally painted backgrounds resulting in a detailed storyboard with the final framing, camera movement and animation tests resulting in an animated storyboard, the animation – the movie split in 8 scenes that were delivered in random order, a teaser and a trailer for the movie, online promoting – screen captures of the sites and the discussions regarding the movie were delivered, retouches, in between and compositing – report, sound – music (original score) and soundtrack. The result of the project was a 6 minute animated short film that, after going to festivals will be promoted on Facebook, Vimeo and YouTube. Because the objective of the project was making the film, the effects of it’s promotion can’t be yet quantified. But, until now, the movie has attracted interest from the beneficiaries, the number of views of the teaser and trailer is 151% higher than estimated
