Description

The project is a cultural-educational intervention project that will function as an innovative tool for youth's cultural education, promoting concepts and methods. It is about a play - Confessions of a dog - that offers a wide opening to new horizons through the use of artistic means. The main project objectives are: free access of youth to cultural products, supporting the local educators, and promoting the concept of active art. The project objectives are: to contribute to a harmonious development of youth through art and culture; education of the young public through free access to cultural products; prevention of antisocial phenomena among youth through increased awareness towards the danger of violence to personal development; promoting public libraries as ideal places for information and communication towards a better understanding of cultural diversity and consolidation of intercultural dialogue; and the dissemination of educational theatre methodology in the work of the local educators, artists and experts in the cultural area.

Summary of project results

As Romania faces an increased number of children and teenagers abandoning school, as well as with many illiterate adults, the lack of education and culture are severe threats that affects the entire country, accentuated in the poorer areas such as Moldova, where the majority of project’s activities took place. The project promoted and encouraged children and teenagers to enter public libraries and reading rooms, where they will meet not only books, but also artists, creators and social activists, an original theatre play, a resourceful workshop and opportunities to debate many important current subjects from Romanian society. The initiative had a very positive result, 852 children and teenagers participating to the 11 events of cultural-educational intervention held in 10 public libraries from Moldova. Encouragement of youths ‘access to public libraries and cultural products was achieved through 852 children and teenagers’ participation to 11 events of cultural-educational intervention taking place within public libraries. The events included 11 performances with the play “Confessions of a dog”, 10 workshops for Civic Education, 11 post-performance debates and distribution of educational material (flyers, brochures, posters). Within these events, the project’s team of experts presented the work methodology and relevant examples from Educational Theatre, used to develop creativity, spontaneity, team spirit, social empathy etc. The participants assimilated the structures and models meant to encourage and develop activities of cultural intervention within the local and regional communities, adjusted to specific topics and needs. The deliverables produced within the project are: 11 events of cultural-educational intervention; 10 public presentation of Educational Theatre’s Methodology; 11 performances of the theatre play “Confessions of a dog”; 10 Workshops of Civic Education; 11 post-performance free debates; 2000 civic education brochures, offered to the participants; 300 posters; 500 flyers; 2 banner; 1 communication and advertising campaign. All deliverables were offered free of charge to participants within the project’s activities.
