Summary of project results

In this region, based on social science researches of the WAC-Center for Regional and Anthropological Research, the relation between Roma population and local community is not so good. It is very important to know the fact, that before 1989 Roma and Hungarian populations were living in different spaces within one village. They were living with totally different lifestyle, behavioral- and communication practices, values and approaches to life. After 1989 the situation changed. It started to develop a new form of relationship between Roma and Hungarian population. The two worlds that earlier were separated, now are approaching in many ways: the common use of the space, the gradually balance of communication forms, the partial approaching of material conditions, etc. Every interaction (chosen, accidental, forced) with Roma population involves transactional costs for the majority of the village. In addition is difficult to understand and even more difficult to manage the new situation (why is necessary to Roma people to quarrel loudly in a group through many hours in the main square of the village). The Project promoter succeeded in reaching the objectives of the project, which were to realize two documentaries and two photo camps about two Roma community in Harghita county, to initiate two round table discussions about intercultural dialogue in this two locality, and to present artistically these two localities from the perspective of documentaries and ethno photos. The project encompasses two documentary films and two photo camps in Harghita county. It also pays specific attention to the activities that aim the improving of the situation of the Roma population in our county. In year 2015 they were achieved two documentary films and the two photo camps, which show the lifestyle, the habits, the traditions, the crafts and the coexistence with the locals of the Roma population in two villages. In order to achieve the planned results, were achieved two ethnographic documentary films, two photo camps, two round table discussions, three documentary presentations, three photo exhibition openings of ethnical and cultural minorities made accessible to the public. The main beneficiaries of the project were film directors and photographers, which had gained a huge experience in working with Roma people, in our project making a documentary and making ethnic, socio-cultural photographs.
