Description

Contemporary art should be an area known and accessible to all, and the programs they carry contemporary art spaces, should be known and promoted. "Artistic Residency Plant 58" aims at developing relations of cooperation and cultural exchange with the Nordic countries - Denmark, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Baltic countries - Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. By selecting and inviting artists from distinct cultural areas, the project will create opportunities for young artists with potential and capacity to absorb culture, to know the artistic environment in Romania, interact directly with him, to understand strengths and weaknesses system in order to build some real cultural cooperation. The overall objective of the project is to promote diversity in culture and art, enhancing cultural dialogue and strengthen intercultural dialogue by developing residencies and creating a standardized platform of resources and information about contemporary art from the Nordic countries and the Baltic countries, so that expertise is shared internationally.The project will organise two artistic residencies lasting two months each, with the participation of young artists from the Nordic countries and the Baltic in the fields of visual arts. It will also organise two exhibitions related to the residences and two interactive seminars / cultural exchanges involving artists in residence and the Romanian artistic environment (artists, curators, art critics). Furthermore, the project will document the two exhibitions through dialogues between curator and artists, translated into English and Romanian and published on the web and on Facebook. Finally, the project will promote Romania as a cultural destination and promote the cultural skills, creativity, visibility and knowledge of cultural expressions of young people. These aims will be met through the artistic residencies, the exhibitions as an result of residences and the intercultural dialogue.

Summary of project results

"Residence Plantelor 58" aims at developing cooperation relations and cultural exchange with Nordic countries - Denmark , Faroe Islands, Iceland , Finland , Norway , Sweden and the Baltic countries - Estonia , Latvia , Lithuania. By selecting and inviting artists from these different geographical and cultural areas , we created opportunities for young artists with high potential and cultural absorption capacity , in order to meet the artists from Romania , interact directly with them, to understand the strengths and vulnerabilities of the system and establish a real cultural collaborations based on progressive principles of operation . The following outcomes and outputs were delivered resulting from the main activities financed by the project: organization of two artistic residencies during two months each , with the participation of young artists from the Nordic countries and the Baltic in the fields of visual arts; organization of two exhibitions due to residences; organization of two interactive seminars / cultural exchanges involving artists in residence and the Romanian artistic environment (artists, curators, art critics) ; documentation of the two exhibitions by dialogues between curator and artists, translated into English / Romanian and published on the web and Facebook ; promoting Romania as a cultural destination and Promoting cultural skills, creativity , visibility and knowledge of cultural expressions of young people by organizing artistic residencies, exhibitions as an result of residences and intercultural dialogue . The two direct beneficiaries of the project - artists Kazimieras Slyzis and Helena Walberg - have received financial support for the realization of exhibitions with international visibility , thereby contributing to the artistic development and their career paths ; By exposing the cultural and artistic environment in Bucharest and Romania in general , the project has contributed, according to the declaration of the two artists participants, on expanding their horizons and create new opportunities of professional collaboration . Artists, curators and art critics, participants in the workshops and exhibition openings organized during the project, faced the two artists and their work, thereby contributing to intercultural dialogue and to identify new areas for work .
