Description

ProEtnica offers to the national minorities of Romania an agora for expression and preservation and promotes the development of their ethno-cultural identities. ProEtnica promotes intercultural dialogue and artistic interaction through the organization of an intercultural festival lasting four days. The festival has 800 participants from the national minorities of Romania as well as media partners and 15000 visitors. The festival includes 30 artistic spectacles from the field of performing arts, which can be seen on an open-air stage, 25 interactive performances in front of the stage, four interactive performances in the forum theatre, 20 presentation and craftsmen booths, as well as an exhibition from the field of visual arts by ten contemporary artists from the national minorities. ProEtnica is promoted by its website as well as by its numerous national, regional and local media partners, which will publish 100 reports on all media channels about the results and outcome of the festival as well as the cultural heritage of the national minorities, the intercultural dialogue and the artistic interaction. A festival catalogue will be published online and printed with 200 copies.

Summary of project results

The disrespect of rights of ethnic minorities has, in the past and present, led to many conflicts and wars. Due to poverty and the lack of education especially the ethnical group of the Roma is exposed to the risk of social exclusion and therefore it was included accentually in the project with a program of forum theatre. The objectives of the project were as follows: offering to the national minorities of Romania an agora for expression and preservation as and promotes the development of their ethno-cultural identities and promoting the intercultural dialogue and artistic interaction through the organization of an intercultural festival lasted four days with 800 participants from the national minorities of Romania and media partners and 15000 visitors. The festival has included 53 artistic spectacles, from the field of performing art on an open-air stage, 25 interactive performances in front of the stage, 4 interactive performances of forum theatre, 28 presentation and craftsmen booths, as well as an exhibition from the field of visual arts by ten contemporary artists from the national minorities. ProEtnica 2016 was promoted by its website as well as by its numerous national, regional and local media partners, which has published more than 100 reports on all media channels about the results and outcome of the festival as well as the cultural heritage of the national minorities, the intercultural dialogue and the artistic interaction. After the festival a catalogue was published online and printed with 200 copies. ProEtnica has proved once more it is a viable instrument to promote the rights of the cultural expression of the national minorities and, at the same time, the cultural dialogue and with this the festival has contributed to the preservation and creation of the intercultural peace in the pluralistic and democratic society.
