Description

The project aims to create a creative space of expression dedicated to young people, using the specific means of theatre art. The main target group of the project are teenagers, to which we add the communities they come from, artists interested in connecting their creativity with the urgent issues in society, media, authorities, theatre audiences and so on. We aim to stimulate young people’s imagination, the capacity of self-expression and interrelation through theatre, to widen their horizon of expectation for their future careers, to encourage them to be part of new professional artistic products, while approaching important issues such as tolerance and exclusion, abandonment and violence. The project brings together two different cultural backgrounds, Romanian and Norwegian. As a result of the project, 28 teenagers will be directly involved in four creative workshops, several stories will be written by the young people themselves, to be artistically capitalised on by a stage director and dramaturge. There will be one theatre text, four actors will be directly involved in the work with the teenagers, and a performance will be included in the repertory of a National Theatre. Company B. Valiente (Norway) is the project donor partner in this project. It is involved in casting actors, coordination of workshops and cooperation on the development of the play. It will organise a performance in Oslo,

Summary of project results

The main goal of the project is to research the means of stage expression as a communication bridge with the neglected teenage generation of Romania. Teenagers in Romania lack the means to express their issues, and are the products of an adult oriented society and an educational system out of touch with economic and social realities. Answering all its specific objectives, the project identified and disseminated new and specific teenage issues, created new artistic products for teenagers (a theatre production, a book, a documentary), developed participants’ creativity, involved teenagers in a professional theatre project, artistically capitalized on the real-life stories of teenagers, brought together in a theatrical context teenagers from various backgrounds. The main deliverables within the project were one new theatre text, one book, one theatre production, one documentary movie, one website, one Facebook page, 6 press releases, 2 posters, 1 banner. The teenagers that were included in the project benefited from a creative space for insight and artistic expression that stimulated their imagination and offered the proper background for self-expression and interaction. The project created an intergenerational platform of communication between adults (artists, teachers, parents) and the adolescents participating in the workshop, the young and adult audiences of the theatre production, students and professors of the West University in Timisoara and National Arts Academy in Oslo, between young and adult participants to the debate organized in Timisoara and Oslo. Access for young audiences to the cultural act was facilitated by the performances of the theatre production and the documentary movie – accessible on the project website. The project enabled the delivery of new artistic products to the Romanian and Norwegian cultural environment: a theatre production, a trilingual book, a documentary movie. The project enabled a creative encounter between representatives of two European cultures: the Romanian and Norwegian co-authors of the theatre text, Romanian and Norwegian artists collaborating for the theatre production, Romanian and Norwegian students participating in the professional workshops as part of the academic partnership, the Norwegian audience to the performance of the show in Oslo by Romanian actors.

Summary of bilateral results

The project was built on this partnership and had two components: an artistic one and an organizational one. The results of the partnership were as follows: the promotion of art education for a wide audience - 30 high school students participated in a series of 5 workshops organized by the project promoter and coordinated by the partner; 3 Norwegian students and 12 Romanian students participated in the theatrical art workshop held by the Norwegian speaker, proposed by the partner, at the Faculty of Music and Theater at the West University of Timisoara; projects on performing arts: the partners formed a mixed-creation team to give forth a theater show and collaborated for representation of the show in Oslo; increased international artists mobility: the partners organized the mobility of the four Romanian actors in Oslo, as well as the trip to Timişoara of the Norwegian teacher and three students from the Oslo National Academy of Art. The project reached out topics reflected in the society of both partner countries through different working methods and different cultural and artistic practices. The exchange of experiences and the formulas resulting from their creative articulation led to the creation of Cooperation has led to the dissemination of project results in both partner countries. Thus, the show had performances both in Timisoara and Oslo, the trilingual book has a potential for European dissemination, the workshop of theatrical art developed within the project with Norwegian and Romanian students led also to the increased visibility of the project and its promotion in the universities of Timisoara and Oslo and, last but not least, the exchange of links between the partners' sites and the project has ensured an exponential growth of visibility.an original artistic product.
