Description

The project looks at the history of minorities and offers a cultural artistic approach to diversity. It lays special emphasis on the mutual recognition of values, on cultivation of a spirit of dialogue and on cooperation between various existing cultures. The project promotes an intercultural society as being a society where ethnic groups interact with each other. The project targets the promotion of education through art and culture for a wider public and it includes performing arts, strengthening and promoting of the cultural history of minorities and also events, productions by and about minorities. The project results in 250 copies of the historical monograph, 6 thematic conferences " Iasi - city of cultural diversity", one festival of cultural diversity, a parade of the popular port of minorities, a specific dance and music show, 6 documentary film projections belonging to some minorities, 2 film projections from the Roma minority, a photo and a book exhibitions about minorities, a minorities cookbook release, 100 copies of the previous book, 3 specific music auditions, one traditions and innovations workshop in the peculiar gastronomic field of minorities.

Summary of project results

The " History of minorities - a cultural artistic approach of diversity" project laid a special emphasis on the mutual recognition of values, on the cultivation of a spirit of dialogue, on communication and cooperation between various existent cultures. The specific objectives of the project were: the consolidation of the general public access to minorities culture and the determination of a better understanding of the cultural diversity, including local minority culture and strengthening of the intercultural dialogue. This project met a general problem found at local communities level and even at national level: the insufficient knowledge of the minorities cultures by the majority which can lead to prejudices among the population and even to social exclusion, especially for the Roma ethnics. The project's aim was to promote the cultural diversity with the purpose of prejudice elimination and a better understanding of a community by knowing it's history and traditions. The proposed activities of this project had as outcomes: the promotion of education through art and culture for a wider public, projects concerning performing arts, strengthening and promoting of the cultural history of minorities and also events, productions of and about minorities. The main deliverables within the project were 250 copies of the historical monograph, 100 copies of the cookbook, 6 thematic conferences "Iasi - city of cultural diversity", one festival of cultural diversity, a parade of the popular port of minorities, a specific dance and music show, 6 documentary film projections belonging to minorities, a photo and a book exhibitions about minorities, one workshop in the peculiar gastronomic field of minorities and a fashion presentation of the traditional costumes belonging to the minorities involved in the project but also a reinterpretation of the costumes in the present fashion industry.
