Description

The project promotes cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue fostering active citizenship through youth involvement in culture promotion activities, as a means of strengthening European identity. It increases public access to forms of modern culture and helps develop a greater interest of youth in culture. The project aims at strengthening relationships in the cultural field and civic involvement between the 3 different European countries: Romania, Republic of Moldova and Norway. The target groups include artists from the field of independent theatre, dance, music, handicrafts from Romania and the Republic of Moldova; representative organizations for the ethnic minorities which live in Iași and Bălți; young people from Iași, Bălți and Oslo interested in an internship in the field of culture; ethnic minorities from Iași and Bălți; local communities from Iași, Bălți and Oslo. Two international multicultural festivals will take place in Iasi and Balti including dance, film screenings, theatre, craftsmen, concerts, photo exhibitions. The donor project partner, the International Organization For Democracy And Human Rights is a Norwegian NGO and the main activities include encouraging and promoting various forms of artistic or any cultural, scientific, sporting expression as well as the promoting of the cultural and sports products and values in the country and abroad.

Summary of project results

The needs targeted by this project includes four main areas: culture and arts, cultural diversity, cross-border cultural relations and civic engagement. The problems identified in the culture come both the artists, who have fewer opportunities to express, and from the general public - that has low access to culture. The project was created to provide the opportunities to artists from various categories of known and artistic fields to share their artistic message with people from the neighbouring country – Romania and Moldova. The main deliverables produced within the project were2 Multiethnic Festivals realized – one in Iasi, Romania and another in Balti Republic of Moldova – those actions involved a lot of activities for each Festival to promote the ethnic culture and artist in both countries (RO & MD), 5 ethnic dancing formations, 3 craftsmen, 3 professional dancers, 1 photographer and 1 journalist from Republic of Moldova had participated in the Festival of Iasi; 5 ethnic dancing formations, 2 craftsmen, 2 professional dancers 1 photographer and 1 journalist from Romania had participated in the Festival of Balti, a choral music Formation from Romania had participated in the Festival of Balti; a independent theatre from Romania had participated in the Festival of Balti; 3 youth volunteering stages in Iasi- Romania, Balti – Republic of Moldova and Oslo – Norway; 4 Press conferences – 2 in Iasi and 2 in Balti. People in the 4 towns from 3 countries involved in our project, had the opportunity to be in contact with the beauty of the ethnic cultures in their areas. The youth had the possibility to volunteer and to participate in very experiencing activities. The artists in Romania and Republic of Moldova, had the opportunity to express their ethnic cultures in their way, having a large public to take contact with. The 4 organizations involved in the project created a strong partnership relation and created the context to develop more projects in future.

Summary of bilateral results

Within the donor state partnership have been achieved a Viking Costume Exhibition at the Balti Festival; a volunteer stage in Balti with the involvement of 5 young people and coordinator - volunteers from Norway; a volunteer stage in Iasi with the participation of 5 young people and coordinator - volunteers from Norway and a volunteer stage in Oslo with the participation of 10 young people and 3 coordinators from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
