Description

This project's approach offers the community in Tarnavioara new possibilities, in terms of social and cultural development. The overall project aim is turning cultural and natural heritage into a key element in terms of preserving the identity of local and national cultural values, sustainable development and social cohesion and inclusion. The project contributes to creating a local structure, along with the Project Partners, that will guide, skill and assist the community in finding real solutions and sustainable revenue diversification in order to improve general life conditions. The project stimulates the improvement of the capacities of human resources in Tarnavioara by facilitating access to professional training in traditional skills (weaving, basket braiding, woodwork, metalwork , carpeting, etc.). The main beneficiary of the project is the local community of Tarnavioara especially the Roma minority, which represents 60% of the community. This project aims to stand out as an example of good practice for social inclusion and economic development by harbouring traditional handcrafts and cultural diversity.

Summary of project results

The project “European Cultural Diversity Hub” aimed at new approach regarding the development of a rural community within a cultural and economic context. The community of Tarnavioara with major difficulties in cohesion and a strong demographic decline, caused in part by lack of jobs and the difficult living conditions went to profound changes regarding economic and social life. Tarnavioara - Copsa Mica registers, according to the last census, 5,400 inhabitants and a population decline of 23 % over the last analysis population. According to the information provided by project partner, The City Hall of Copsa Mica, only 1255 people are employed. The rest of the population are beneficiaries of the social services. Along with the two partners The City Hall of Copsa Mica and ASTRA National Museum Complex, European Cultural Diversity Hub succeeded in creating a local structure that is now capable to support any new idea of economic progress of Tarnavioara. The projects main sustainability is actually the growth of the human resource capacities of Tarnavioara by facilitating access to professional training in traditional trades (woodwork, carpeting, metalwork, traditional masonry or gastronomy). This major goal was accomplished 100% due to the will of the inhabitants of Tarnavioara and their perceptiveness. The main beneficiary of the project is the local community of Tarnavioara especially the Roma minority, which represents 60% of the community. This project will stand as an example of good practices for social inclusion and economic boost whilst harboring traditional handcrafts and cultural diversity. During the period of 12 months several actions were planned in order to achieve the planned results: 100 locals took part in the four traditional workshops (woodwork, metalwork, traditional masonry, traditional gastronomy) conducted within the project, a bilingual webpage, press conferences (2), press releases, 3 billboard, posters ,audio-visual materials, 1000 de DVD multilingual video guide “The development of Transylvanian communities within the context of European diversity regarding the reduction of social and economic discrepancies of vulnerable groups“. European Cultural Diversity Hub achieved the following 5 façade of 5 traditional houses were restored, 100 locals form Tarnavioara certified in a traditional handicraft, over 60 students taking part of Summer schools, over 800 participants to all activities conducting within project.
