“Cod - Experimental Tapestry” is a project for children between the age of 3 and 5 in pre-schools in Porto and Felgueiras, Portugal. At the end of the project all the tapestry fishes will be exhibited together in a great show. All the pupils will then be able to see their works together, giving the whole project a collective meaning. Something about community and working together towards a common goal. Together with the show made up by the tapestries of the children, there will be a program and different conferences for the grown up audience where different themes regarding the various issues will be presented. Summary of project results

“Bacalao - Experimental Tapestry” was implemented within the infant-cultural exchange between Norway and Portugal. The relationships between the partnerships had begun months earlier through the artistic residency CRe-air, where textiles were the thematic base of this encounter. It was during this time that Amplitudelíder participated in the Cultural Rucksack government program. The key point of this partnership was trust and motivation so that each one would give their best towards the same goal. In view of all the difficulties and obstacles, these were overcome so that the purposes were achieved. In partnerships with schools, there was distrust and no commitment to the project however friendships with some teachers began to emerge. Cooperation emerged between those who really believed that it would be possible and without fear of the inherent work and routine changes of day to day. Learning by art, with art and art, was the motto of this work. And with this, important messages to the little ones in order were transmitted, to demonstrate that everyone can participate and is responsible for the environment in which we live. In small school communities Amplitudelíder weaved codfish, later to the approach of the sea theme, such as the cod fish ecosystem and all others, climatic balance bridge and sources of resources. These are topics that need to be depolluted, cared for and treated with respect and care for the good of cod, fish, oceans and man. Amplitudelíder weaves on small looms, with yarns and ribbons. Amplitudelíder worked the fine motor skills and creativity of the youngest that is surprising and inexhaustible. Then Amplitudelíder grouped all these small works in a larger elaboration and of many hands, that ended up exhibited at Fundação do Escultor José Rodrigues. The result was a magnificent trip through never-before-seen waterfalls! This project is over, but Amplitudelíder’s eyes are on the future and the artistic entity looks forward to developing a serious and consistent work. The partnership presented the project to be developed by the Cultural Rucksack program in Norway and Amplitudelíder will have the opportunity to share new ideas and hope for new projects.

Summary of bilateral results

The project Bacalao – Experimental Tapestry (PT09-0011) - was implemented within the infant-cultural exchange between Norway and Portugal. The relationships between the partnerships had begun months earlier through the artistic residency CRe-air, where textiles were the thematic base of this encounter. This prompted the participation of Amplitudelider in the Cultural Rucksack government program. Along with the partners Arteriet (NO) and Escola Artística Soares dos Reis (Porto), learning by art, with art, through art, was the motto of the work between the partners, transmitting important messages to the children in order to demonstrate the need for participation and responsibility for the environment. In small school communities the partners promoted the weaving of codfish tapestries, thus approaching the codfish ecosystem, climatic balance bridge and resources. This project made possible for the children to learn about the need for depollution, for the care and respect in treating the environment. Using small looms, yarns and ribbons, children were able to work their fine motor skills and creativity. The result of this work was later exhibited at Fundação do Escultor José Rodrigues. At the event “Cultural Footprint – Covered Path”, a new partnership was created between Escola Artística Soares dos Reis and Academia de Música de Lagos (PT09-0007). A group of students were responsible for working the set for the “Tales from the Sea – The Adventure of Fossegrim” concerts, based on the weaving processes developed within Bacalao – Experimental Tapestry.
