Description

The Project has thematic centrality in the “Mother” universe. It is aimed at children and youth. Teachers also take part on the project to be a means of conveying knowledge and a solid sustainability factor. The Project comprises three strands ordered here according to the sequence of execution: 1 – Training; 2 – Creation of Artistic products; 3 – Creation of Image products. The main objective is the creation and production of artistic products in the areas of theater and dance, as well as the creation of visual/digital products, in order to summon and boost the conversational participation skills between formal knowledge and know/do. This intercultural dynamics aims to confront and enhance the knowledge of each of the partners in the creation of aesthetic and ideologically coherent and appealing artistic objects in order to better serve educational purposes. The thematic pillar of the Project based on the relevance of the assigned gender equality concerns, environmental issues and sustainable development

Summary of project results

“Mothers” was brought in the context of the path and work developed by ACTA in Education Theatre. This project helped reinforce a more strict connection with the school community, namely when it comes to training and enjoyment of teachers and students, as well as the connection with the community in general. The partnerships emerged, at one pace because of an existing relationship, such as the Agrupamento Escolas Tomás Cabreira, and at another pace with Visjoner Theater, trhough contacts and knowledge of thir aristic work. The strengths of the project are based on the dynamics created, the training actions carried out with teachers and students, as well as the approximation, contact and enjoyment of artistic objects by children and young people of school age, being able through theater to reflect on themselves as well as its surroundings, and the reinforcement of the involvement and proximity to the communities, in particular with the Educative Service “VATE - Let's Catch the Theater” – which, as is known, is an itinerant initiative that works on board of a bus. ACTA intends to continue to develop training actions for teachers and students, since it is an area with marked deficiencies, and they intend as well to consolidate, from the established basis, the dialogue between the artistic community and school community, involving creators, students, teachers, trainers, but also local, regional, national and international families and institutions.

Summary of bilateral results

Between the partners grew a dynamic of creation, of production and circulation around the “Mother” thematic, with all its significances, having this been an enhancer of artistic objects, including an unpublished text written, by the way, by writer Lídia Jorge. The project allowed the promotion of knowledge between partners, namely in what concerns the assessment of artistic assumptions and the strategic understanding (in conformity with the purposes of the Cultural Footprint programme), accordingly framed into the Theatre for Education Programme developed by ACTA (awarded with the Gulbenkian Prize for Education).
