Description

The aim of the project is to prevent violence in families by developing capacity and awareness among professionals of local institutions providing services for persons and families affected by this problem. The city of Rumia and the Municipal Social Welfare Centre are undertaking activities to support such families, including financial and psychological support, educational activities intervention and therapy. The problem of violence in its different forms is prevalent in the community. Therefore, the activities planned under the project are aimed at reducing the scale of violence and various problems associated with it. The target groups of the project are: social workers, members of the interdisciplinary team and working groups, children, youth and young adults at risk of domestic violence. The expected outcomes of the project are the following: 100 persons will get help from the specialist support centre; 25 employees of the Municipal Welfare Centre will receive training; 62 members of the interdisciplinary team and working groupss will participate in workshops; 300 children will participate in discussions and lectures in schools; 10 trips for people requiring social therapy will be organised; and awareness raising campaign will be carried out.

Summary of project results

Domestic violence in its different forms is prevalent in the community. The city of Rumia and the Municipal Social Welfare Centre are undertaking activities to support affected families, including financial and psychological support, educational activities intervention and therapy. The activities under the project were aimed at reducing the prevalence of violence and various problems associated with it. The target groups of the project were: social workers, members of the interdisciplinary team and working groups, children, youth and young adults at risk of domestic violence. Under the project a counseling centre was created providing legal, psychological, social and family counselling services. Over 100 persons received support at the centre. Moreover, 25 staff of the Municipal Welfare Centre and 44 members of interdisciplinary team and working groups participated in training and workshops which enhaced their skills.Support groups for victims of domestic violence were organised, as well as sport activities and trips for participants. In addition, photography workshops and awareness raising meetings for school children were carried out, gathering over 200 participants.
