Description

Domestic violence and gender-based violence are prevalent in Poland. Women face different forms of violence in various settings, including household, workplace and public space. Many cases are never reported. Moreover, women are often subject to secondary victimization when seeking help in support institutions. The aim of the project is to improve access to comprehensive and interdisiciplinary assistance for women victims of violence. The project involves various measures, including legal workshops, WenDo practice, support group for women, psychological counseling, treatment sessions and a helpline for victims of violence. Women, victims of violence and at risk of violence, will benefit from the project.

Summary of project results

Domestic violence and gender-based violence are prevalent in Poland. Women face different forms of violence in various settings, including household, workplace and public space. Many cases are never reported. Moreover, women are often subject to secondary victimization when seeking help in support institutions. The aim of the project was to improve access to comprehensive and interdisiciplinary assistance for women victims of violence. The project involved various measures, including WenDo practice for 187 women, support group for 18 women and a helpline for victims of violence offering legal and psychological counseling. The project offered support for women, victims of gender-based violence and contributed to improving services for women affected by violence and at risk of violence.

Summary of bilateral results

The Project Partner - Norwegian organisation Kvinner for Kvinner was actively involved in project activities which contributed to exchange of knowledge and experience between Polish and Norwegian experts. The Project Partner participated in a study visit to Poland and in a debate with Polish stakeholders which was organised by the Feminoteka Foundation. The debate focused on violence against women and support for victims in Norway and in Poland.
