Description

The EGO Foundation carrying out a project "Reintegration of the family entangled into the violence" is helping people facing problems related to violence within the family. Statistical data show that 16% of residents of the Podlasie experience violence in the family. This is thus a major social problem resulting in the dysfunction of the life of the family (children learn negative behavior) as well as for work life (negative impact on education, lowering self-assessment, limited access to paid work). Reducing prevalence of violence in the family in Podlasie province through several preventive, therapeutic and support measures is the overall objective of the project. Persons affected by violence, victims, perpetrators as well as witnesses, are the target group of the project. As a result facilities of institution providing services for victims of domestic violence will be developed. Moreover, the availability and the quality of services for people affected by violence will improve.

Summary of project results

Support for individuals and families affected by domestic violence was offered under the project "Reintegration of the family entangled into the violence". Statistical data show that 16% of residents of Podlaskie district experience violence in the family. This is thus a major social problem resulting in the dysfunction of the life of the family (children learn negative behavior) as well as for work life (negative impact on education, lowering self-assessment, limited access to paid work). Reducing prevalence of violence in the family in Podlasie province through several preventive, therapeutic and support measures was the main objective of the project. In total 62 persons (32 women, 9 men, 10 boys and 11 girls) received psychological support. Pedagogical support was offered to 70 persons (31 women, 5 men, 25 boys and 9 girls) and 38 persons (24 women and 14 men) benefited from family therapy. Moreover 2 parenting workshops and 2 art therapy groups were carried out. The project addressed also professionals - 7 experts received training on preventing sexual violence against children. The project contributed to improving availability and quality of services for people affected by domestic violence in Podlaskie district.
