Description

Domestic violence is a widespread problem in Wałbrzych and the number of people seeking help from the Specialist Support and Intervention Centre is constantly increasing. The project will complement activities implemented by institutions working in the field of preventing domestic violence in Wałbrzych and will result in the improvement of quality and access to services for people affected by this problem. The target groups of the project are victims, perpetrators and witnesses, including children, of domestic violence, as well as staff of relevant institutions in Wałbrzych. A number of activities will be carried out under the project, including: workshops for victims of domestic violence, educational activities and treatment for children living in families affected by violence, individual counseling, corrective-educational measures addressed to perpetrators, training for professionals working with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, and improvement of infrastructure.

Summary of project results

Domestic violence is a widespread problem in Wałbrzych and the number of people seeking help from the Specialist Support and Intervention Centre is constantly increasing. The aim of the project was to improve the quality and access to services for people affected by this problem. The project applied a comprehensive approach providing activities addressed to various target groups - victims, perpetrators and witnesses (including children) of domestic violence, as well as staff of relevant institutions in Wałbrzych. In total 40 women participated in workshops for victims of domestic violence, over 30 children living in families affected by violence attended educational activities and received treatment, approx. 200 hours of individual counseling was provided (including psychological, legal and family counselling) and 12 perpetrators participated in corrective-educational programmes. Moreover, professionals working with victims and perpetrators of domestic violence received training and infrastructure of the specialized support and intervention centre was developed (renovated and equipped). The project contributed to the improvement of the local system of preventing domestic violence. According to the final project settlement the total project grant cost was EUR 28,782. The remaining amount of EUR 70 will be covered within the budget heading ‘Reserve for exchange rate loses’.
