Description

The project has been created to support the insufficient help system which deals with the growing rates of domestic violence in Torun. The purpose of this project is to reduce violence in the City of Torun and in the Torun Commune by various preventive, protective, corrective and educational measures. A number of workshops and courses, as well as meetings with people affected by violence will be organised under the project. The staff involved in preventing domestic violence will get a chance to increase their knowledge and skills and the infrastructure of the Caritas Crisis Intervention Department will be improved. The target group of the project consists of 40 people (victims, witnesses and perpetrators), including 10 families at risk of social exclusion due to domestic violence living in the City of Torun and in the Commune of Torun. The implementation of the project will have a positive impact on the development of preventive actions and infrastructural support in counteracting domestic violence on a regional and local level.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to reduce violence in the City of Torun and in the Torun Commune by various preventive, protective, corrective and educational measures. The activities implemented under the project supported the insufficient help system which deals with the growing rates of domestic violence in Torun. The target group of the project were victims, witnesses and perpetrators of domestic violence, including families at risk of social exclusion living in the City of Torun and in the Commune of Torun. The staff involved in preventing domestic violence participated in training which increased their knowledge and skills. A number of workshops and counseling sessions for people affected by violence, as well as parenting workshops and social events were organized under the project. In total 34 victims of violence and people affected received support. Moreover, programme for perpetrators was carried out (with 8 participants). The facilities of the Caritas Crisis Intervention Centre were also improved. The implementation of the project had a positive impact on the development of preventive actions and an infrastructural support in counteracting domestic violence on a regional and local level. According to the final project settlement the total project grant cost was EUR 25,577. The remaining amount of EUR 63 will be covered within the budget heading ‘Reserve for exchange rate loses’.
