Description

The main objective of the Project is to prevent and tackle domestic violence in Chelm. The problem requires an interdisciplinary approach and involvement of local authorities and relevant institutions. The expected result of the Project is development of local prevention system and infrastructure in this field. Project activities include counselling, individual therapy and support groups for people at risk/affected by the domestic violence. Moreover, Aggression Replacement Training connected with parenting workshops for perpetrators of violence will be provided to prevent further acts of violence and to ensure better protection for the victims as well. Additionally, special rooms at The Police Station in Chelm will be created for the purpose of questioning of victims and witnesses of offences against family, freedom, sexual freedom and of indecent acts. Also, special rooms in Addiction Help Centre in Chelm will be converted into rooms for working with the perpetrators of violence. Target groups of the Project are people at risk and victims of domestic violence, as well as perpetrators of domestic violence.

Summary of project results

The main objective of the Project is to prevent and tackle domestic violence in Chelm. Several activities were carried out under the project, including counselling, individual therapy and support groups for people at risk/affected by the domestic violence. Over 400 persons benefited from project activities. Moreover, a special room at the Police Station in Chelm was created for questioning of victims and witnesses of offences against family, freedom, sexual freedom and of indecent acts. One room in the Addiction Help Centre in Chelm was renovated and equipped for the purpose of conducting workshops for parents and programmes for the perpetrators of violence.
