Description

According to the data gathered by the County Family Support Centre in Szydłowiec, the problem of domestic violence in Szydłowiec County is prevalent. Relatively low level of completed education, high unemployment and poverty lead to frustration, to alcoholism and to domestic violence. In 2012, there were 154 domestic violence victims covered by the "Blue Cards" procedure. The aim of the project is to reduce domestic violence by improving the availability of services for victims and by providing effective intervention and corrective measures addressed at perpetrators. A specialist support center with 24 hours shelter services for victims of domestic violence will be established under the project. Moreover, various forms of support for victims, including counseling and support groups, as well as measures addressed to perpetrators, will be provided. The project targets 45 adults and 15 teenagers affected by domestic violence in Szydłowiec County.

Summary of project results

The problem of domestic violence in Szydłowiec County is widespread. The aim of the project was to reduce domestic violence by improving the availability of services for victims and by providing effective intervention and corrective measures addressed at perpetrators. A specialist support center with 24 hours shelter services for victims of domestic violence was established under the project. Moreover, various forms of activities addressed to victims, including counseling and support groups, as well as measures for perpetrators, were provided. In total 60 persons from Szydłowiec affected by domestic violence benefited from project activities and 15 perpetrators participated in special programmes.
