Description

The project is in line with the objectives of the Polish Municipal Action Plan for Prevention of Domestic Violence and Protection of Victims of Domestic Violence for 2012-2016, adopted by resolution No. XVIII/154/12 City Council of 23 April 2012. The objective of the project is to reduce gender-based violence in Mińsk Mazowiecki, in Poland. The expected results of the project are extending support for persons and families at risk and affected by violence, as well as raising public awareness on consequences of violence in close relationships. The target groups are: individuals and families at risk and affected by domestic violence, representatives of institutions implementing activities in the field of preventing and combating domestic violence, and the local community. Under the project the beneficiaries will take part in psycho-educational groups and benefit from legal and social counseling. Moreover, a support system for members of the working groups (professionals dealing with domestic violence) will be developed.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to reduce gender-based violence in Mińsk Mazowiecki. It resulted in improved support for persons and families at risk/affected by violence and increased public awareness on the consequences of violence in close relationships. The target groups of the project were: individuals and families at risk and affected by domestic violence, staff of institutions implementing activities in the field of preventing and combating domestic violence, as well as the local community. The project included psycho-educational groups (49 participants), treatment programmes (36 participants) and legal and social counseling (594) for women victims of gender-based violence. Moreover, a support system for members of working groups (professionals dealing with domestic violence) was be developed (42 persons benefited from supervisions).
