Description

The project corresponds to the diagnosed problem of lack of awareness and competence in the field of renewable energy and energy production by prosumers, particularly at the level of local governments, which determine the effective social and economic development, defined in Strategies: Europe 2020, Polish Energy Policy 2030, Silesia 2020 +. The aim of the project is to launch postgraduate studies educating specialists in the field of multifaceted prosumer energy, including sustainable energy management, use of renewable energy sources, social communication, threats to the environment and climate. Tailoring an innovative program of studies, which will be run by an interdisciplinary team of specialists, will foster a comprehensive approach to the subject, enabling (substantively and practically) future experts to support energy policy instruments in practice. Such enablement will occur through the development of social awareness, consulting and the spread of knowledge.

Summary of project results

Socio-economic changes in Poland and the EU legal conditions requires the implementation of certain activities in the field of new energy development, involving the production of energy from renewable sources in distributed systems. Changing the way of thinking and making right decisions about the evolution of energy have become a challenge, motivated by improving the quality of human life in the environment that’s functioning on a global scale. The implementation of activities in the development of new technologies, or the identification of resources has become insufficient. That’s why, the aim of the project was to create an innovative educational offer, which prepared the range of specialists in the field of prosumer power engineering (EP), ultimately educating society on different levels, combining social, technical and environmental aspects. The project raised awareness of the risks and consequences of further implementation of energy based on non-renewable resources, respectless for the rights of nature and the lack of human functioning as its element. The main results of the project are: 1) an interdisciplinary study program and its documentation, 2) publication, 3) organization of two substantive seminars 4) launched website 5) preparation of the final report, 6) promotion of the project, including: two conferences and press briefing and 7) evaluation of the project. In addition, a study visit in the agricultural region was organized, during which modern technologies applying biomass as an energy feedstock were presented. As a result of project implementation, students increased their individual awareness in the field of energy efficiency (7 persons applied some changes or optimized method of heating their home; 2 persons purchased a hybrid car). Also, awareness of energy efficiency and human impact on the environment increased at the local level by promoting the idea of prosumer power engineering.
