Description

The main objective of the project is the preparation of a programme for specialisation in Ethnology, with special emphasis on the post-industrial spaces of Upper Silesia and the mountain areas of Beskid Śląski. The project is responsible for diagnosing the students’ needs (in particular at bachelor level) and external stakeholders. The result will be preparation of the graduates to the implementation of good practices from the field of cultural ecology. The results will be achieved through: the analysis of needs of potential studies’ participants, developing a programme for the specialisation and teaching materials, promotion of the specialisation, organisation of seminars and workshops for the staff and students. The benefit will be raised awareness and education in terms of environmental aspects. The project will not be conducted in a formal partnership.

Summary of project results

The project weaves into the stream of actions targeted at stopping the progressing degradation of natural environment. It responds to the lack of specialists equipped with skills to implement good practices in the scope of cultural ecology on the Polish market which was established on the basis of the identified demand of students and external stakeholders. The elaborated and launched specialization will allow for preparation of specialists in the field of cultural ecology in the currently realized teaching cycle and in the subsequent years. The most important achieved target of the project is an increase in the level of awareness and education in the scope of environmental aspects, above all among the recipients of promotional campaign and content published on the project website, students, academic society, individuals and institutions to which the scientific monograph is directed, participants of scientific conference etc). In order to achieve the accepted results of the project all planned tasks have been realized. In addition, thanks to the conference summing up the project several tens of scientific articles were obtained which will be issued in a compact publication (from own resources). All the results will be used post finalization of project funding. Project results include: programme and documentation of studies (enriching educational offer of the Silesian University by 1 specialization), bilingual internet website of the project, educational materials in the form of 10 e-learning courses, launch of teaching cycle for 1 group of students ( with permission of the Operator- smaller than assumed in the project); promotional materials (various commercials and information in media, marketing material such an pen drives, stickers and canvas bags; 1 trainings; 2 five day off-site workshops and 3 expert lectures; 1 authorial scientific monograph (in circulation of 200 copies and available online); and scientific conference for which 41 papers have been submitted.
