Description

The planned expansion of the programme offering is a response to the growing demand for employees with specialties related to environmental protection and an ecological approach to the development of a "green" economy. The specific objectives include: - Improving the quality and internationalization of education; - Extension of the educational offer of University of Lodz in both Polish and English; The project is foreseen to result in the creation of a two-stage program of studies in Polish and English based on specializations and courses, development of textbooks, development of subject matter to enable long-distance learning, and the involvement of scientific and teaching staff of the University of Lodz and external experts to provide the best guarantee for the achievement of results.The goal is that the project will raise the educational offer and competitiveness of the University. The experts are professional consultants in the development of programs relating to the economics of environmental protection.

Summary of project results

Background: the decision to expand of the program offer at the University of Lodz (though new university courses, specialist course and courses for international students) came in response to the growing demand for employees specialized in environmental protection and an ecological approach to the development of "green" economy" and implementation of the Polish and EU development strategy "Europe 2020 Strategy". The aim of the project was to increase the knowledge and awareness of Polish and foreign students, faculty and alumni of the University in the field of sustainable development, ecology, business and international finance. Assumed outcomes were achieved through: - improved competitiveness of educational offer of the University of Lodz, - access of foreign students to English curricula (fields of study and courses),- establishing cooperation with the University of Bifrost in Iceland,- enhanced internationalization of the University -dissemination of developed teaching materials in textbooks. The project delivered the following outputs; a two-degree curricula in Polish and English, specialty courses and two courses for foreigners; 9 newly drafted textbooks; 2 distant learning courses; and a report on the demand of enterprises for skills and capabilities. All outputs were delivered in cooperation between the staff and external experts and were discussed during the visit to the University of Bifrost in Iceland and approved by the authorities of the University of Lodz. During the project students took part in conferences, a seminar, study visits, pilot classes, various course contests and the final project conference. The evaluation report demonstrates that their involvement in all of these events met their expectations and enhanced their knowledge and awareness on sustainable development, acquired as a result of the participation in individual activities. During the project 22.10.2015 & 30-31.05.2016: - 67 students took part in discussion classes/lectures; - 69 students took part in study visits - 155 participants (students, academic staff) of seminars - 161 participants of conferences
