Summary of project results

The collaboration of universities with the business environment is one of the most important challenges for higher education, not only in Poland but also in all countries which put emphasis on innovative economy based on knowledge and experience. The main assumption of the project was that HEIs are not only research facilities but also important didactic centers. The overall objective of the project was to create a second degree major connecting universities and the socio-economic environment. Project goal was to create such a program that would encompass the knowledge of two foreign languages (including specialized language) with elements of management including environmental solutions in the workplace. The first phase of the project included the performance of questionnaire based and focus studies. The questionnaire-based research results pinpoint the current needs of local employers, serving modern business, concerning knowledge of foreign languages among future candidates. The team also conducted analysis of current trends in need for highly qualifies employees with knowledge of foreign languages, which was presented in an article. Further actions included preparation of a program proposal including the description of the major, a detailed proposal and a set of intra-program specializations: linguistics and translation, glottodidactics/teacher training, management in environmentally friendly business/CSR. The program proposal included subject descriptions covering the nature of the subjects, subject goals, initial requirements, content and training effects, methods and evaluation criteria, teaching methods and recommended literature and materials. For the purpose of teaching, project team has prepared a number of publications. These include scripts (5 textbooks) for the training of professional communication in German on the Polish market (finance, accountancy, information technology and general business communication). As a result of the experience gained at the implementation phase, a scientific publication was written. Dissemination was achieved through the project FB profile https://www.facebook.com/pages/L4EB-Lingwistyka-dla-Ekoodpowiedzialnego…, several social media channels (also Youtube, Twitter, Slideshare and Instagram) with content added regularly, professional promotional audiovisual material, conference presentations and promotional articles.
