Description

The market looks for specialists integrating different fields of knowledge & skills. Polish industry lacks innovations and needs to seek talent among students in the relevant fields of study. Poland has chosen ICT as an export specialization (see: Do IT with Poland). Warsaw University of Technology, with support from art universities (AFA, FCUM), NTNU Trondheim and business entities, will seek to broaden its offer by adding a new Master`s degree in English in "Multimedia - technologies, design, management" in accordance with Bologna Process requirements. Our partners will offer know-how, insight into best practices, access to laboratories and evaluation of outputs and outcomes. The project`s deliverables will consist of textbooks, syllabi, papers, multimedia e-learning courses as well presentations to be disseminated in Poland and abroad. The project will focus on academic staff training, the hosting of 2 conferences in Poland, the organization of a symposium in Norway, promotion of creative entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural and global market exposure.

Summary of project results

The main result of the project is an innovative and complex interdisciplinary university study course: International Master’s Degree in multiMEDIA - technology, design and management in English. The new course encompasses a curriculum, syllabi, and graduate profile. Other project deliverables include textbooks, syllabi, papers, multimedia e-learning courses and presentations that were disseminated in Poland and abroad. Innovative educational and teaching materials combining professional expertise of collaborating universities and business entities were also developed. Another, more "intangible", result stemming from the project is the exhibited leadership and team (and community) building experiences that arose during implementation, resulting in building a creative interdisciplinary team of experts across the multimedia field and creative industries (electronics, telecommunication, computer science; audiovisual design and arts, IP management and IP law). Among other project outcomes are: academic staff training, 2 international conferences in Poland, symposium during multimedia RoadShow, promotion of creative entrepreneurship, cross-cultural and global market exposure. While the project did not establish a formal partnership, it benefited from a successful and fruitful cooperation with NTNU Trondheim, Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Academy of Fine Arts and several Polish enterprises, and in fact enabled the establishment of a project team consisting of experts from Poland and Norway. Besides the economic, social, public benefits derived from the project, students were given the chance to develop their personalities and creativity. Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) and the cooperating universities broadened their multimedia offer, which is currently becoming much more attractive for numerous European and Asian students through its use of English as a teaching language. There is a strong impact of the project interactive telecommunication platform (Intranet and Internet) on everyday academic activities. A substantial part of the developed educational materials are already implemented into existing courses. The Professional potential achieved by the project team in multimedia accelerated the decision to reshape activities of the WUT Institute of Radioelectronics into Institute of Radioelectronics and Multimedia Techniques.
