Summary of project results

The project was a response to business requirements in the region, as well as to the needs of Polish and foreign students. The aim of the project was to open master degree studies in English – Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). Specific achieved objectives were the following: to analyze foreign educational offers and employers’ requirements, modernize the educational field, offer education in English, modify the didactic infrastructure, improve competences of university staff and prepare didactic materials. The project succeeded in launching a pilot field of studies providing education for at 20 Polish and foreign students. These studies in English will strengthen the University's international position and make its educational offer more attractive. The new field of study, the first of this type in Poland and one of very few in Europe, has filled the gap in the business market as a response to the employers’ needs. In addition to engaging the 20 Polish and foreign graduate students in the pilot studies, the following outputs were produced: - new courses in Computer Aided Engineering in English along with learning outcomes, new training modules, modified plans of study, textbooks for students, international seminar, survey for checking the students’ and employers’ needs, and training for university staff. All of the planned results and outcomes were achieved. A university obtained a new interdisciplinary field of study conducted in English. The academic staff developed professional qualifications thanks to: language courses, CEA software courses, seminars on teaching methods. The faculties engaged in carrying out the courses strengthened their didactic infrastructure: new books for students, software licences and necessary equipment was purchased. The project enabled graduates of a new faculty to become competitive on the professional market. It has only recently been possible to design authorial study programmes and faculties at this university; it is the first field of study implemented fully in English at UTP.
