Description

The project addresses two types of educational needs in logistics and production management: the growing interest in careers in the these sectors and the need for more attractive forms of education. The main project objectives include the development of tools forlLearning logistics and production management, teaching logistics and production management. The expected results will include new ICT-based tools for teaching logistics and production management - ViDiT (Virtual Didactic Tool), learning logistics and production management - 6M (6 training Modules)l. These results will be achieved through the implementation of four tasks: (1) Development of ViDiT, (2) Development of 6M, (3) Project activities management, and (4) Finance management. Key expected project benefits is an attractive educational form, enriched with multimedia and the ability to facilitate rmote education via mobile devices. The Norwegian University of Science and Technology is involved as a partner.

Summary of project results

The project “Computer assisted learning of logistics of management” (CALM) managed to disseminate knowledge of logistics and production management. The University of Łódź extended its teaching offer by creating 6 modern teaching modules, which will be used within a new field of study already planned. Being able to observe and exchange experiences linked to the teaching process conducted by the Norwegian HEI and transferring its methods proven to work in practice to the University of Łódź was an important part of the project. The outcomes of the project were presented at an international conference organised to disseminate project outcomes. The project resulted in the preparation of teaching modules focusing on key issues related to logistics and production management. These modules were developed using modern tools for the development of multimedia applications containing elements of e-learning, making the system accessible to laptop or desktop users and those who work with mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. The students’ own work was focused on selected and specific problem areas, which is why they can learn anywhere using any mobile device. Not only do lecturers have access to modern online teaching tools, but they also create them. The most important outcomes and impact of the project: (1) familiarisation with the culture and functioning of Norwegian companies and HEIs; (2) development of six modern teaching modules, to be used in the study programme of a new degree programme; (3) effective solutions transferred from the Norwegian HEI to be included in the teaching of the University of Łódź.

Summary of bilateral results

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim brought to the project practical teaching process experience concerning new forms of distant learning and a range of best practices related to the use of modern information and communication technologies in teaching. The project strengthened the mutual relations of the partner institutions on several levels: at the official level the project is the first to establish a long-lasting relationship in the field of management science, especially in logistics and production management. On a broader scale the project activity could form the nucleus of a cooperation network integrating other educational and research (eg. Molde University College), interest in research and education in the fields of logistics and production management. The project has been the first and major step towards establishing bilateral relations between both partner institutions.
