Description

The Academy has had sub-programmes in Scandinavian languages and culture since its establishment in 1990 (in the academic year 2015/2016 there are 2 specialties associated with Scandinavia: "Intercultural Relations between Latvia and Nordic Countries" and "Intercultural Relations between Latvia and Denmark"), therefore cooperation with Scandinavian countries has always been one of the Academy's key priorities. The mobility project will involve 3 students from the Latvian Academy of Culture (they have already been nominated as the Academy has already completed the competition for students) and 3 Universities: the Latvian Academy of Culture, the University of Akureyri and the Volda University College. As a result of mobility, the approved students will be able to complete their bachelor's or master's papers, improve their knowledge of Scandinavian languages and English, as well as to attend specific management courses that are not available at the Academy. Results of the competition stated that the approved 3 students’ motivation to participate in the project is very high.

Summary of project results

Aim of the project was to strengthen sub-programme Scandinavian language and culture and extent cooperation with Scandinavian countries. As a result of mobility, the approved students were able to complete their bachelor's papers, improved their knowledge of Scandinavian languages and English, as well as to attended specific management courses that are not available at the Academy, for example, one of students visited subjects like the Religion and Culture in Norway, the Introduction to the Norwegian Language, Literature and Society, as well as sports courses specially for international students, which also focuses on Norwegian culture and the introduction of the society only through sports and active lifestyle prism. In total 3 students went for mobility as planned and received 95 ECTS points. Scholarship amount was a bit challenging as one of students spent 5 full month and 17 days, and we could not pay for 6 full month. In general, mobility had a very positive effect on student personal life and level of their education. Project success story was nominated for Mobility Gala event in Romania.

Summary of bilateral results

Project strengthened cooperation between Academy and donor state project partner. Bilateral fund was not available for Scholarship activity.
