Description

The main aim of the mobility is to improve the professional background of academic staff to encourage partnerships and research cooperation between the Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy and Lillehammer University College, in order to promote international relations in research projects. The aim of the projectis connected with the international mobility strategies and sustainability measures of the Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy. Some aspects of the strategy of the Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy are: to carry out research directed towards the development and implementation of the Academy’s conception and the perfection of the Latvian educational system; to provide high quality studies purposefully improving the methodological and technical provision of the study process. The project will strengthen cooperation with Lillehammer University, by carrying out joint research in the field of education for sustainable development. Mobility is considered necessary both to strengthen the partnership between universities and the exchange of experience and knowledge, and research.

Summary of project results

As a result of the project, the professional preparedness of the academic staff increased both for Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy (RTTEMA) and Lillehammer University College. Lecturers From RTTEMA provided Lillehammer University College with additional academic knowledge and experience of scientific work during their visits to LUC. The joint research in the field of education for sustainable development was carried out and collective publications will be written. During the project 4 academic staff mobilities from RTTEMA to Lillehammer University College were carried out: Dr of Biology, Dr. Juris Porozovs, published the paper „Peculiarities of education for sustainable development in Lillehammer University” (2 weeks) based on their visit. Dr of Philosophy, Dr. Elmars Vebers „Educational leadership for education of sustainable development” (2 weeks). Mg.sc.soc., Alvis Valdemiers „Distance learning methods in education for sustainable development” (2 weeks). Dr.oec., Sarmīte Jēgere „Cultural projects effect on the region's economic development” (2 weeks). An article “The opinion of Latvian and Norway Students About Using of Distance Learning in Education” about research results obtained during the project was submitted for publication in the 9th International scientific conference “Theory for Practice in the Education of Contemporary Society”. Work on other publications continues. There are plans to participate in another international scientific conference "Engineering for rural development" and introduce additional joint research results.

Summary of bilateral results

The professional preparedness of the academic staff increased both for Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy and Lillehammer University College. Lecturers From RTTEMA gave additional academic knowledge as well as experience of scientific work during visits to LUC. Joint research in the field of education for sustainable development was carried out and collective publications will be written. The cooperation agreement between RTTEMA and LUC was contracted, therefore joint research on education for sustainable development will continue, as well as student exchange (mobility), which is a welcome addition to the internationalisation of both institutions.
