Description

In order to become a modern and internationally recognized university, internationalization and international cooperation has become an integral part of higher education and research and winds through the planning and providing of study process, scientific activities and administrative work. The necessity of the internationalization activities in Architecture and Civil Engineering is even more grounded by the higher education policy in Latvia that aims on specialization of the higher education institutions and integration in European and World education space. The activity “Scholarship” will foster not only the development of human resources, but also will secure the synergy between both activities of the program. It is prospected, that with help of project, in addition to direct results (stimulated bilateral cooperation and mobility, improved academic knowledge and skills) also an impact through the Research component will be brought and that indirect results will be achieved, that will leave an additional impact: - on participants: improved informal skills, intercultural experience, ability to look on a traditional and conventional question from a different point of view, improved foreign language skills, motivation to work in an international environment and to initiate new international activities by raising the competitiveness of the university; - on university: improved collaboration between partner-institutions, mutual trust, popularization of internationalisation activities, raising of competitiveness, recognition; - on society: promotion of tolerance of other cultures, integration in common European space.

Summary of project results

The Purpose of the mobility was to faciliate the development of human resources, so as, according to development strategy of LLU, to become a modern and internationally recognized University, where internationalisation and international cooperation winds through the planning and providing of study process, scientific activities and administrative work. This project was implemented to foster the competitiveness and recognition of the Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU) in Latvia and internationally (Norway). All planned mobilities took part (1 student mobility and 7 academic staff mobilities). Project direct results: - acquired knowledge and confidence about the necessity in improving the study programme “Landscape Architecture”, a challenge in near future that will be done to secure the internationalization of studies; - knowledge about new tendencies in the field of landscape architecture in Norway, guided by one of the best and recognized specialists in country, as well as seen practical examples of modern landscape architectural solutions in environment to improve the teaching methods and quality; - stimulated bilateral cooperation and mobility between partner institutions. Project Indirect results: - improved collaboration between partner-institutions, mutual trust, popularization of internationalization activities and raising of competitiveness. In addition to direct results of the project, there have been also an additional impact achieved: - on participants: improved informal skills, gained intercultural experience, ability to look on a traditional and conventional questions from a different point of view, improved foreign language skills, motivation to work in an international environment and to initiate new international activities by raising the competitiveness of the universities; - on university: improved collaboration between both partners, mutual trust, popularization of internationalization activities, raising of competitiveness, recognition; - on society: promotion of tolerance of other cultures, awareness of Europeness and integration in common European space.

Summary of bilateral results

Project helped stimulate bilateral cooperation and mobility between partner institutions (1 student mobility and 7 academic staff mobilities were implemented), improved collaboration between partner-institutions, mutual trust, popularization of internationalization activities and raising of competitiveness. Partnership helped achieve better results in Research projects, as well as strategic goals of both partner institutions. Bilateral collaboration also improved informal skills of the project participants, improved knowledge, gained intercultural experience, ability to look on a traditional and conventional questions from a different point of view, improved foreign language skills, motivation to work in an international environment and to initiate new international activities by raising the competitiveness of the universities.
