Description
The project comprises activities which are closely related to improvement in provision of healthcare services in the territory of four municipalities: Lazdijai region, Druskininkai, Alytus region and Kalvarija. Currently, aforementioned services are not provided to the full extent as required by hygiene standards. This is due to the fact that there is only limited number of properly adapted health cabinets within territory of these municipalities. Moreover, municipalities are not financially able to finance procurement of modern and expensive equipment in order to ensure provision of services covering whole territory of municipalities’. This has direct negative impact on heath of children, as well as on prevention of diseases, timely diagnosis and addressing development disorders as early as possible. It is intended with this project to improve accessibility to health care services through renewal of health cabinets and installation of proper equipment. Overall number of health cabinets to be renewed - 35 cabinets, it is planned to include minor works in 26 cabinets. Project embraces 25 schools and 10 pre-school facilities. All health cabinets involved in the project are going to be provided with basic equipment. To ensure efficient usage of funding and equipment, environmental assessment tools, as well as a separate list of additional equipment is going to be procured following the rule that only one piece of equipment type should be provided to individual municipality, which in turn would ensure that it is used in all health cabinets on the territory of that municipality. This would also ensure that procurement of equipment would not be in excess of what is needed.
Summary of project results
The goal of the project is to improve the environment of overall healthcare and health promotion services in 10 pre-educational and 25 educational institutions. The project's target group is preschool, primary school, elementary school and secondary school aged pupils, their families, staff of educational institutions and the society of 4 different municipalities: Lazdijai, Alytus region, Druskininkai and Kalvarija. Repair works in 26 health cabinets included repair of electricity installations, flooring, plumbing work (including installation of the necessary basins, cold and hot water inlets and sewage), installation of vertical blinds on windows for safety. All 35 health cabinets involved in the project were provided with basic and additional equipment. To ensure efficient usage of funding and equipment, environmental assessment tools, as well as a separate list of additional equipment were procured following the rule that only one piece of equipment type should be provided to individual municipality, which in turn would ensure that it is used in all health cabinets on the territory of that municipality.
