Description

The project aims to foster the professional activity of women. The project will work out and promote a package of recommendations on solutions to facilitate the alignment of professional and private life (i.e. fostering work-life balance), and solutions to the challenge of increasing the share of women in corporate executive boards and supervisory boards. Using substantial and awareness-raising activities, we want to work out a package of recommendations for legislative solutions making it possible (especially for women) to combine professional and family life, and to help them develop their professional careers and be promoted to higher positions, including to executive boards and supervisory boards. The greater occupational activity of women, with the parallel relief from household duties, is a significant factor in ensuring social and economic development and building the well-being of citizens: only the full and balanced use of resources allows sustainable development. We aim at a situation in which employees, regardless of gender, have equal opportunities in the labour market and can – to an equal degree – balance their professional and family lives.

Summary of project results

The main objective of the "Superwoman in the Labour Market" project was increasing the awareness among employers and employees in matters concerning flexible solutions for combining professional and family life and as a consequence supporting the professional activity of women. The other important task was to work out a package of recommendations concerning legislative solutions helping (especially women) in combining professional and family life. It is important that the level of know-how concerning all the available forms of employment and organisation of labour time – a great majority of which support employment, making it possible to combine professional and family life – is augmented among representatives of trade unions, employees, and women. By carrying out the Superwoman in the Labour Market project, the Lewiatan Confederation increased the awareness of people involved in the process of legislation, civic partners, and also employees and job seekers. This goal was attained through the following activities: - Conduct of several debates and organisation of national conferences on 3 main issues: Aligning the roles of employee and parent, Entrepreneurship of women, Women in managing boards. - Developing a package of recommendations (analysis, research, working out proposals and final recommendations) - 1 media campaign - Direct meetings during 2 Congresses of Women with outreach covering entire Poland - 16 regional conferences - 16 seminars The following outputs were achieved: - Package of recommendations has been worked out for solutions facilitating the alignment of occupational and private lives and solutions increasing the share of women in executive boards and managing boards of companies; - The dissemination of the project results reached more than 4’000 people which are aware on the solutions facilitating the alignment of occupational and private lives and solutions increasing the participation of women in company boards.
