Description

Paid jobs in Spain’s rural areas are scarce, with almost no job opportunities for women. Family duties and limited mobility lead to seasonal jobs without contracts or with irregular pay. The project’s main aim is to ensure labour market access for especially vulnerable women in rural areas. The beneficiaries will be 45 unemployed women in vulnerable situations trained to cover niches in primary agricultural activities or as self-employed workers, through develoing personalised plans for accessing the labour maket in three autonomous regions in Spain: Galicia, Extremadura and La Rioja. Bilateral relations will be strengthened by creating and fostering models of co-operation among women from both countries to serve as models of good practices for future projects concerning employment, self-employment and socio-labour insertion of women in rural areas. To that end, the online platform EMPLE@RURAL-EUROP@ RURAL will be set up. Moreover, a Hispano-Norwegian Women’s Federation will be created

Summary of project results

Women in rural areas encounter greater difficulties in receiving training and entering the labour market. Our goal with this Project has been to provide effective tools for improving training, employability, sustainable development and living standards for rural populations in general and for women in particular. We achieved 100% of our aims and reached even more beneficiaries than expected, with 70 participants on the itineraries and 375 people registered for the online courses. Training in new employment niches has been a fundamental pillar of the project and all the beneficiaries received this together with the online training. Thanks to the workshops and the methodology used, the beneficiaries were involved throughout the personalised process. We were able to set up collaboration protocols with our Norwegian counterpart regarding insertion matters and in the tackling gender violence which will be implemented in the near future.

Summary of bilateral results

The organization shared experiences, know-how and good practice in issues such as the vulnerability of women and gender violence which can be applied in Norway. It acquired first-hand Knowledge of employability of women in rural áreas by visiting projects in situ. A new channel for bilateral work, interchange and communication has been oponed this year, and in 2016, via the website expressly created to this effect, for the joint follow-up of the Project and programmes set up.
