Description

The project provides support and assistance to entrepreneur women in Arganda. The goal is to develop an integrated centre for awareness, training, mentoring and coaching on self-employment of women and of those involved in self-employment initiatives with a need to consolidate their business. Linked to the local development strategy, the project also centres on promoting a process of business inter-operation between entrepreneur women and women's business associations. The focus is on the development of entrepreneurial activities through integrated plans with a gender perspective in the field of social economy. An innovative methodology will enhance women's skills and their social capital. The Centre will boost collective enterprises with the participant women through an exploratory self-learning approach for capacity-building and empowerment. A significant impact is expected to increase the labor inclusion of women, and to contribute to the economic development of their community.

Summary of project results

The project has created an innovative model of public service support and promotion of entrepreneurship among women in the municipality, based on a personalized route of actions focused on strengthening entrepreneurship capacity (collaborative networks, business design, access to financial aid, training, etc.) From this point of view, the Council of Arganda del Rey has managed to boost a new work methodology which has reinforced their relationship with female entrepreneurs as a group and the business environment, as well as with local institutions (employment services, business associations, banks, etc.). The project has reached 274 women who were interested in entrepreneurship, out of which 75 have participated actively in the Active Classroom for Entrepreneurship. In this setting, a group of female entrepreneurs has been created. They have managed to define and, in some cases, boost their own business projects, which are becoming more and more viable in terms of financing. Likewise, a group of 24 female entrepreneurs has boosted a collaborative network in which they plan to engage in new joint projects (co-working, service rendering, etc.) and where they intend to create a space for mutual support and exchange of information and experiences. As a result of this initiative, the first association of female entrepreneurs has been created in our municipality.
