Description

The Province of Teruel is one of the most deserted areas of Spain, and one of the areas with a higher ratio of men compared to women in Europe. This implies that female entrepreneurship, especially among the medium – high level trained population is very low. The objectives of the “empreMter” project are to increase female entrepreneurship and self-employment, ensure social and labour inclusion of women in rural areas and the promotion of employment and social policies to reconcile work, family and personal life. To achieve these objectives, a website will be created and different seminars and training workshops will be held. Also, some studies and surveys will take place in order to analyse the existing policies. The actions will be grouped in three working items: 1. Awareness raising actions, trainings and seminars 2. Study actions, analysis and recommendations 3. Project coordination and corporate image. The main target group for the project will be unemployed women from the province of Teruel.

Summary of project results

The rates of female unemployment among women with university level education are very high in the province of Teruel. The aim of the project was to obtain information about the situation and to assist and support female entrepreneurs. Networks for female entrepreneurs have been established, and as a result 13 companies are now in the start-up phase. The aims of the project have been the promotion of the entrepreneur spirit, to create networks and the creation of contacts to facilitate cooperation. This has all been achieved, along with making ourselves conscious of the needs of formation and of social change that still are necessary to facilitate the entrepreneur spirit in the woman. Through the networks, the beneficiaries have received personal, professional support from individuals with relevant experience.
