Description

This project focuses on EMU priorities — environmental, biotechnological and veterinary sciences. Clinical veterinary medicine relies on interdisciplinary cooperation and benefits from the specialist knowledge of certified veterinarians. We aim to enhance contacts between partner organisations to improve the level of clinical teaching and research. The expected outcome is the introduction of modern teaching and research methods in partner institutions via mobility and cooperation of researchers, clinical teaching staff and final year students. In environmental sciences there is need for exchange of practical know-how and experience in the form of site visits and research seminars to find commonalities for environmental research. Research into sustainable environmental management contributes to both countries’ ecological, economic and social aspects and benefits the whole Nordic-Baltic region, guaranteeing a better platform for research cooperation, including joint project applications.

Summary of project results

The most important part was student mobility. Thanks to big scholarships the interest of the students was higher than for the Erasmus programme (but still not as high as we hoped). We hope that thanks to the fact that some students participated in the programme for studies and traineeships, more students will do the same in the future. We especially appreciate the fact that traineeships were supported. In staff mobility, expectations were also met. There was cooperation in both teaching and science. We would like to stress the opportunity for carrying out a field trip for study advisors which was extremely successful. Student exchange from Estonia to Norway worked rather well (8 students participated). Unfortunately, Norwegian students have very little interest in Estonia and no Norwegia students participated in the mobility. Estonians were more active in staff mobility also.

Summary of bilateral results

Our Norwegian partners are very cooperative and helpful. There were no problems.
